Brandon K.M. - Teach Me [OFFICAL VIDEO]
A music/lyric video for the song "Teach Me", off of last year's album Reveries.
This is the second song and the third track on the record, before the interlude that begins the actual 'revery' sequence of the story. I do not like to explain line-by-line the meaning of the lyrics but holistically the song is about the ways in which education systems work to strip their students of individuality. The imperative to conform. I tired to make a video that actualized this concept - hopefully - without being too heavy handed (pun intended) in its imagery.
The style of the video was inspired by a local lights show in Richmond, VA, in which several artists took over buildings and spaces to create pieces which somehow involved light. One of the most intriguing installations involved a projector with elements that interacted with those who walked in/around it. I decided to apply this idea to a video, albeit with a far darker tone.
The video was filmed in VCUarts' Cinema studio with their projector and shoutout to the third years who literally opened the door for us! Also shoutout to my boy Robert Tregenza.
