Ciao! This lesson is on Italian vocabulary and in particular about sports. You’ll learn some basic words and sentences to make basic conversations.
--------------------------- SUMMARY OF THE LESSON -------------------------
0:15 - INTRODUCTION
The Italian word for sport is “sport”. It’s masculine and doesn’t change in the plural. The articles are “lo” in the singular and “gli” in the plural.

VELA = sailing

1 - Talk about what sport you do

Question = (TU) CHE SPORT FAI?
Answer = (IO) GIOCO A + Sport / (IO) FACCIO + Sport

Examples:
(io) gioco a calcio = I play football
(io) faccio nuoto = I swim
(io) faccio yoga = I do yoga

2 - Talk about abilities in a sport (Verb “Sapere”:    • The Italian verb "can"? "potere" vs "saper...  )

If you can do a sport: (IO) SO GIOCARE A + Sport / IO SO + “action” verb
If you can’t do a sport: IO NON SO GIOCARE A + Sport / IO NON SO + “action” verb

Examples:
(io) so giocare a calcio = I can play football
(io) so nuotare = I can swim
(io) so fare yoga = I can do yoga
(io) non so giocare a golf = I can’t play golf
(io) non so andare a vela = I can’t sail

3 - Talk about what sport you enjoy watching

(IO) SEGUO + Sport

Examples:
(io) seguo il ciclismo = I watch cycling races
(io) seguo la pallavolo = I watch volleyball

4 - Talk about the outcome of a game/competition

VINCERE = to win
PAREGGIARE = to draw
PERDERE = to lose
ARRIVARE + Your Position (e.g. 1st, 2nd, .., last) = to arrive 1st, 2nd, .., last

Examples:
(noi) abbiamo vinto = We won
(noi) abbiamo perso 3 a 0 = We lost 3-0
(io) sono arrivato/a primo/a = I arrived first
(io) sono arrivato/a ultimo/a = I arrived last

Question = CHI HA VINTO?
Answer = (ABBIAMO VINTO) NOI
