The Halloween 6 That Never Was
Welcome to the first episode of "Better on Paper," where we look at notorious unproduced screenplays and ask whether they should've been made.
We're kicking off with a legendary screenplay that would've served as the sixth installment of the "Halloween" franchise. If you thought The Curse of Michael Myers was weird, then strap in for "Halloween 666: The Origin of Michael Myers." A script that takes baffling directions into the metaphysical and absurd, it would've fit right in alongside "Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare" and "Jason Goes to Hell." It also shares elements with Rob Zombie's Halloween II and Halloween Ends, so you just know it would've been a hit with the fans.
That approach didn't work out too well for either Freddy Krueger or Jason Voorhees, but how does this script fare? Would this have been a worthy edition to the Halloween franchise? Did this script accidentally invent Found Footage and pave the way for the likes of "The Blair Witch Project?" Would this Tommy Doyle have suited Paul Rudd better? Would fans have accepted seeing Hobo Myers if it meant getting to see him massacre a bunch of dicks dressed like Alex and his Droogs from A Clockwork Orange?
