Goodbye Pretzel ( In loving memory )
This is a near final mix of a song I've been working on for several months about Letícia Fidelis-Recine and my cat Pretzel who passed away not too long ago.
John Wallace and Curtis Wallace were kind enough to help recording drums at their studio called The Faraday Cage for the song to give it a more natural and emotional feel, giving excellent suggestion on arrangement and producing some killer drums for the track.
Everything as it is now is mixed using good old fashioned compression, eq, gates, phase alignment, verbs and delays. Nothing is sampled or time corrected, all takes are live. All mixing was done by me, tracking of the drums was done by the twins, everything else was tracked in the van.
The song is called "Goodbye Pretzel" and is not tied to any band or project, just a song I wrote and wanted to release to keep in memory of her. Maybe I'll do a music video, showing all her favorite places, who knows.
Don't be afraid to be honest with suggestions. Vocals need this, guitar is that, drums sound like this etc. So far I'm pretty happy with it but its still missing that shimmer that I'm looking for.
I miss ya Pretzel, so damn much, every damn day.
