1981 Toyota Pickup SR5 22R GM 3 Wire Trail Gear Alternator Wiring
In this video I show how I wired up my 1981 Toyota Pickup SR5 when upgrading to a GM 3 wire alternator using a Trail Gear kit.
Alternator wiring varies quite a bit for these trucks depending on if you have a 22R or a 22RE.
This is specifically the wiring for a Toyota Pickup with a F-E-N type alternator and external voltage regulator. I have listed the original alternator and external voltage regulator from O'Reilly's so you can check if you have the same system.
The Trail Gear kit I ordered will be listed below. The brackets do not come painted so that is on you. They are well made.
I have also shared a google drive link of a wiring diagram for older model Toyota Pickups & 4 Runners that I stitched together from individual pictures out of the back of a service manual.
