sayIt demo of Apple text to speech with Sonic Pi
This video incorporates the command line "say" command in MacOS to produce samples from text input which can then be utilised seamlessly in Sonic Pi, adding a new dimension to the program. YOU can for example add lines of text which are spoken to describe the operation of the program eg what it is playing.
The program depends on a single defined function which generates a new sample speech.aiff each time it is called. This sample can then be utilised by Sonic Pi. Sadly the technique is only available for the Mac version of Sonic PI, although it may be possible to write a similar system for other OS that support text to speech.
