Hey everyone! Join me for a joyful march today! Written by Claude Barbottin and Olivier du Chene. I love to play fun pieces on the organ sometimes. This one is an improvisation based on a lead sheet. I hope you enjoy it! If not, there’s plenty of serious organ music on my Channel for you. It’s amazing to learn that this piece (and this style) has a rich history in France that goes back to the Renaissance, Baroque, Stylus Galante, Romantics, 20th-century music, and all the way to the Chanson. This piece is in a style of approachable “Folk” music that aims to lift your spirits! (For the organist among us… I don’t play the pedals “just” as accompaniment together with the left hand, I play the pedals in circles around a central note that varies per chord while including descending and ascending lines to create extra dynamics in the piece!).
