Hey YouTube, hope you’re all doing okay. Today I have a quick review for you of the Panasonic SC-HTB18EB-K 120W sound bar. I’ve had this 2.1 channel speaker system in my living room for over a year now so I thought it would be a great time to give you my thoughts.
Sound bars were designed to improve your audio experience when watching movies and TV in your own home as frankly almost all internal speakers on TVs don’t quite meet the mark in terms of audio quality. This kit from Panasonic features a 75 centimetre long bar that you place below your TV either free standing or it can be mounted to a wall. This then provides a wide field of high quality stereo sound that can easily fill a room. It is supplemented by a subwoofer that connects easily to the sound bar using a single cable which provides a boost in frequencies below 120Hz. The Sound bar can connect to your TV system via a pair of RCA connectors or with a digital optical audio connection.
Audio quality is great although you do loose some clarity at extremely loud volumes which is to be expected. There is a nice neutral response to the sound and is clear when watching movies or just listening to music. It is important to mention that the subwoofer isn’t particularly loud, rather than giving you that club like boom instead it simply fills out the bottom frequencies giving a natural sound. The bottom of the unit does feature a switch that is designed to be flicked depending on the orientation of the bar however I do feel that you get a slightly improved experience with the bar pointing straight towards you.
On top we have access to some of the basic functions while the remote gives us further options such as a Clear Voice option and Subwoofer level.
The device also features Bluetooth allowing you to connect your phone, tablet or computer the bar for audio playback – a feature which has actually been surprisingly useful when you just want to listen to music without having to switch on any other devices.
I would recommend this sound bar to anybody who wishes to improve their audio game, it will certainly be a dramatic improvement to anyone using built in speakers.
