This project explores the above concerns through a compositional exercise at such a palimpsest place in the city of Athens; in the industrial and preserved site of Lipasmata Drapetsonas, located exactly at the entrance of the major port of Piraeus: a landscape in a ruin that contains two almost demolished factories of Glassworks and Fertilizers; an abandoned industrial and polluted environment that stands as what’s been left of the former factories’ function. The intention here is not simply to preserve the existing or to oppose new layers to the old ones, but to find alternative ways of re-using existing fragments in order to re-value the urban scenery.
