Richard Mclean Giese, known professionally as Social Repose or Richie, is an American singer, songwriter and YouTube personality. Social Repose started his channel in 2011, posting original music, vlogs, sketches, reactions, and covers. Social Repose' channel currently has a little over a million subscribers, but after quick success in the beginning of his career, that number has greatly fluctuated and his view counts are not representative of his subscriber count. I looked Social Repose up on urban dictionary for the best background info and there are a few funny posts. Although Social Repose hates commentary channels and wants to either silence them or sway them to be on his side, his first big break came in 2015 after Youtuber Leafyishere did a video reacting to some of Social Repose' content, mostly saying, “Um what is this weirdo doing?”. In the few days following Leafy’s video, which quickly racked up 2 million views, Social Repose made a video social reacting to Leafy’s video, which social resulted in his first huge spike in views, subs, and positive comments on his videos. Social Repose was very flattered because he reads what he wants to, not what people write. People were mostly commenting not that Social Repose was great, but that his music quote “ actually isn’t that bad.” Social Repose' first controversy was in 2014 when he started wearing a headdress. That was 7 years ago, right, so, you might assume Social Repose learned from the criticism and stopped wearing it, but nope. He still wears it. Social Repose has continued to wear the headdress and ignore the complaints because, well, he didn’t agree so he didn’t care. Social Repose even went so far as to have a headdress custom made and he said he paid a lot for it, but if you’re going to have something custom made, design something different! What? I don’t understand his thought process here. Oh and Trisha Paytas collabs with this dude btw which i totally forgot to mention in the video!
