Food, utilities, and other items essential to our daily lives will see price increases starting in October.

Due to this unrelenting rise in prices, ramen restaurants in Kanagawa Prefecture are also raising their prices.

Yoshimuraya Chairman Minoru Yoshimura
"These prices have also gone up by 20-30%. Even Yoshimuraya has no choice but to raise them."

Yoshimuraya, the epicenter of Yokohama-style ramen in Nishi Ward, Yokohama, has decided to raise the prices of all its noodle dishes by ¥40 starting October 1st.

This marks the largest price increase in the restaurant's 50-year history.

The main reason for this is the rising cost of ingredients used in ramen.

Until now, thanks to the generosity of long-standing business partners, purchase prices have been relatively low.

However, over the past few years, prices have been gradually increasing, with vegetable prices increasing by 10-50% and eggs by 50%.

And the item most affected is the noodles, an essential ingredient in ramen.

Chairman Yoshimura Minoru
"This is a 10 yen (price increase) per bowl. This is the first time in 50 years, and the price increase is that big."

According to a study by Teikoku Databank, the cost of making a bowl of ramen has increased by more than 10% since two years ago as of June of this year.

Bankruptcies are also on the rise, and it's possible that the number of bankruptcies nationwide could reach 100 per year for the first time.

Chairman Yoshimura Minoru
"Electricity, gas, and water prices are also going up, and the only thing that's going down is my labor costs."

Chairman Yoshimura said that, depending on the situation, price increases after winter may be unavoidable.
