Corrugated Sheet Facade or House Sheathing with Corrugated Sheet.
Hello.
Corrugated sheet façade cladding for a frame house or bathhouse is a very simple, quick, and cost-effective solution. These are the advantages. The disadvantages include the material's relative fragility and absolutely zero vapor permeability!
• The short lifespan of corrugated sheet façade cladding is offset by the low cost and ease of replacement of the façade system. You need to be prepared to re-cladding your house with corrugated sheet every 6-20 years, depending on your luck. Be sure to note that corrugated sheet façade cladding can vary in color from batch to batch, so try to purchase all façade material at once and from the same batch. Therefore, it's best to choose façade colors from standard basic shades and select a manufacturer with a long history, even if not the best.
• The zero vapor permeability of corrugated sheet façade cladding means that this type of cladding necessarily requires a ventilation gap; otherwise, everything is the same. In our case, we first cover the bare frame on the outside with a windproof membrane. Next, we create a ventilation gap for the future corrugated sheet facade by creating a batten from 50x50 mm beams. Then, we install a horizontal counter-batten from 50x25 mm slats. The house cladding will be attached to this counter-batten. The facade will be clad with corrugated sheet using special screws. There's already a video on our channel where we install a fence made of corrugated sheet. The installation is identical, except that in that case, the screws are for metal, while here, they're for wood. Screws matching the color of the facade are sold in the same places where you can buy the corrugated sheet. Don't worry about this.
The main goal of creating a ventilated facade from corrugated sheet is to ensure maximum airflow through the insulation (in our case, the future insulation). To achieve this, the façade cladding is installed with maximum gaps at the top and bottom of each corrugated sheet, without exception. This is precisely why the sheathing, followed by counter-sheathing, is used.

Now, a little about the installation time, material costs, and labor cost per square meter for cladding a house façade with corrugated sheet.
In our case, the façade area was approximately 52 m². The sheathing required 0.9 m³ of pine lumber and 8 kg of nails, approximately 70 m² of windproof membrane, and some staples for its installation. The actual façade itself, made of corrugated sheet, was approximately 52 m².
There's no definitive answer regarding the installation time for the house cladding with corrugated sheet, as we completed it in stages. Probably about 5 working days would have been sufficient for a crew of three. The cost of such work can be estimated at $300 or more. Thus, the cost of installing a corrugated sheet facade will be $5.77 per square meter, or free if you do the work yourself. The cost of materials for installing a corrugated sheet facade will be approximately $12.2 per square meter.
