DIY Video Surveillance.
Hello.
1. Resolution of the Matrix.
The number of pixels, expressed in millions.
So, Full HD resolution is 1920x1080 pixels.
If we multiply the number of pixels in width by the number of pixels in height, we get a number of approximately 2,000,000, which corresponds to 2 megapixels.
Accordingly, a camera with a resolution of 2688x1520 pixels is 4 megapixels, and a 4K image is already 8 megapixels, etc., but...
If you watch the footage on a monitor with Full HD resolution, then no matter how many pixels the source material contains, the monitor will limit this quality to 2 megapixels.
Details can only be seen if you start enlarging the picture, but many never do this and continue to think that they are watching 4K.
2. Light sensitivity of the Matrix.
In low light conditions, the camera matrix (or rather, each of its pixels) will receive a limited amount of light.
The larger the pixel, the more information it will receive for processing.
3. Physical Size of the Matrix.
The concept of matrix size is usually considered to be the length of its diagonal, indicated in Vidicon inches (written as one divided by some number).
4. Focal Length and Pixel Density
Pixel density is the number of pixels per 1-meter length in the identification zone (denoted as PPM).
• Identification (250 PPM);
• Recognition (125 PPM);
• Detection (25 PPM)
All cameras at 250 PPM shoot plus/minus the same.
With a pixel density of 25 PPM, the video surveillance system is able to record the movement of a person in the frame and transmit the corresponding signal.
5. IP Video surveillance or Analog.
An IP video camera is an independent device that connects to a local network via cable or Wi-Fi.
The disadvantages of an IP video surveillance system include:
• The relative high cost of cameras;
• Difficulty in installing and configuring the system;
• Signal delay and picture slowdown;
• The problem of data loss through a cable with a length of 100 m or more (solved by forwarding radio bridges or building a good Mesh system).
In turn, an analog video surveillance system is the simplest possible system.
I plugged the cable from the camera into the DVR, from the DVR into the monitor, and everything works and shows.
But a DVR for analog video surveillance systems is a must-buy!
6. Installation of IP Video Surveillance System.
First of all, I insert memory cards into the cameras.
Our camera has two connectors:
• Connection to the network (for example, directly to your home router);
• And a 12V connection via a power supply, which is not included.
There is another connection option: using PoE technology (that is, both information and power are transmitted over a single network cable), if the cameras support it.
Since this camera consumes only 6.5 W, this PoE switch is capable of powering such 4 units, but...
If you choose 4MP video surveillance cameras with a power consumption of 12 W each, then even if you connect only 3 cameras, the power may no longer be enough.
7. Configuring HikVision IP Cameras for the Video Surveillance System.
Open a new tab and enter the IP address of the new camera 192.168.1.64 and press the "Enter".
We now find ourselves on the interface of the HikVision company.
We come up with a Password and Repeat it (the name remains “admin”).
Click "Ok".
Now we’ll make sure that recording is carried out, in this case on a memory card.
Select the “Storage Management” subsection.
Let's format the card.
Go to "Schedule Option".
In the drop-down menu, select the desired recording type, for example continuous.
Click on the timeline of any day of the week and adjust either with the sliders or enter the time from the keyboard.
Copy Monday's temporary settings for all days at once.
Save.
Now let's set up recording from CCTV cameras "by event".
Click on the Monday time line and in the window that appears, simply change the mode from continuous to “event-based” mode.
Monday's timeline changed from blue to purple.
Let's go to the "Event" menu of the same name!
We enable the motion detection function itself.
We press the “Draw area” button and on the image from the camera in real time we draw the zones in which we are interested in motion detection, for example, only behind the fence.
Save.
In the “Connection method” section, we mark the upload to the memory card and recording by checking the appropriate boxes.
Congratulations, everything works, the camera records.
In the "Image" menu you can adjust settings for brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc.
In the "Video/Audio" menu we adjust the quality of the recorded video:
Save.
In the "Network" menu, you can activate the DHCP mode or come up with and register the desired IP address yourself.
Reboot.
In the "Network" menu, we can configure remote access to our camera to view video from a smartphone.
We come up with a verification code, enable the mode and save.
If everything is fine, the status will be “Online”, usually this happens after a few seconds.
