"Tapestry of Yarns" is a mentoring program that will include training and production of podcast episodes, created by women from our region. Working with an all-female team of trainers, studio technicians and producers, the women will be supported through a process that will result in the women having the confidence, technical skills and storytelling structure, to share their stories and weave a tapestry of yarns that can be shared to the global digital world.
"Tapestry of Yarns" will provide a creative approach to sharing information to support people to find a pathway to achieve their goals. Tailored mentoring by a team of focused, supportive and experienced mentors. This program will pick up the threads of various women podcasters that have already delved into the arena and are ready to create content for a sustainable, economically viable, montorised podcast. In the regions there are fewer opportunities to explore creative businesses. Podcasting is an ideal economic opportunity for those remote or home-bound.
Podcasts are an essential component of sharing information, providing deeper conversations about current affairs and challenging topics that you won't hear through traditional forms of media (ie. mainstream TV or Radio). It is also accessible and readily available to anyone, with any level of experience. Before broadcasting was exclusively available to fully qualified practitioners, with large teams and bigger budgets. Podcasting has opened opportunities for anyone to share their story.

Shirley-Ann recently retired as a senior register nurse Shirley-Ann after 30 years of service to remote and regional communities of Far North Queensland. Now actively pursuing a life long passion to become a creative writer, singer and performer playing ukulele an instrument that has the power to connect people, inspire hope & share joy across diverse communities.
The Travellers Ukulele Gig Guide is a resource for players of ukulele who are travelling the globe, looking to connect with other ‘four string people’. Each week Shirley-Ann posts a new episode jam packed with uketastic stories of where to go, what to do and why you should bother visiting ukulele groups in foreign towns, villages, countries, islands, cities and remote faraway lands.
Talking to some famous people along the way but mostly we’ll be talking amongst ourselves, as we get to know the people in community that make ukulele live & breath!
