It's no secret that my favorite fruits are the different varieties of blackberries. If you look closely at the recipes I leave like breadcrumbs in cyberspace, you'll see a trail marked by their red and blue hues. They're not always easy to find where I live, at least at affordable prices, but when those seasons arrive where prices are fair and the quality is dreamy, I happily incorporate them into my meals.
This time it was strawberries' turn, which, for this stretch of hot afternoons, were a welcome addition to my kitchen wanderings. With them, I made a dessert that's simple but also looks great on the table: a beautiful, crunchy red tart with a custard base to cut the strawberries' natural acidity. You'll see that once you finish making it and deliver it to the cold heart of your icy refrigerator, you'll find that the suffocating warmth of the sun will dissipate, and all that's left will be a sweet palate with this cool dessert. Enjoy the instructions, and if you make it, don't forget to tell me what you think.
