Dog returned to owner after two years

MERLIN, Ore.-- A dog owner was reunited with her four-legged friend on Saturday.
Casey Thomas said she had not seen her bulldog, Poppy, in almost two years. Poppy was taken when her home was broken into.
Thomas said she knew who had taken her dog, but she could not legally get her back, and eventually, she almost lost hope.
"We kept asking for help and no one could help us, and we couldn't go on to her property -- it's breaking the law, so we just kept trying and trying and no one could help us so, I had kind of given up and lost hope," Thomas said.
Josephine County Animal Control Officer David Pitts made it his mission to bring Poppy home. On Thomas' birthday, he made it happen.
Pitts said it is still an open investigation. The District Attorney's Office will be getting the information soon, and then will choose the best course of action for the person accused of taking Poppy.
