Financial Mathematics - Basic Concepts
If you work in the financial market, you know that a good foundation in financial mathematics and its basic concepts is essential for performing well and advancing in your career.
In this mini-course, I, Kleber Stumpf, one of the best-known financial certification instructors in Brazil, will teach you the ABCs of financial mathematics.
In the first lesson, you will learn basic concepts to become a master of financial mathematics, including simple and compound interest, as well as their mathematical formulas, global conventions of financial mathematics, the common amortization system in Brazil, nominal and real interest rates, and inflation.
In addition to showing you what each of these topics means, I will show you in practice how to apply these concepts in mathematical calculations, because theory without practice is not worth much. In the daily routine of the financial market, no one will ask us about a formula out of context, but you, as a professional, will need to identify the moments and how to apply financial mathematics in your day-to-day work.
I also know that many people have been afraid of math since their school days, but I'm here to show you that math doesn't have to be complicated! When you understand the basic concepts well, putting them into practice becomes much easier. And that's why the first lesson of our mini-course deals precisely with these concepts. When we memorize formulas without understanding the root of the problem, the probability of encountering problems when putting them into practice is extremely high. Those who know me know that I always tell our students that rote memorization is the graveyard of the trickster, and that's why I so strongly advocate the application of these concepts to practice.
If you're still not convinced that this content is important, it's worth remembering that as a financial market professional, you NEED to master financial mathematics to demonstrate confidence to your clients, avoid mistakes that can harm your work, and know not only what you're doing, but also how and why you're doing it.
