How to Analyze Fixed Income Indicators

Fixed income is a real alphabet soup! There are so many acronyms that it's easy to get confused when analyzing its indicators. But understanding all this is only complicated for those who don't watch this lesson because, after it, you'll become an expert in analyzing fixed income funds.

In our sixth lesson of the Financial Mathematics for Investors mini-course, we will understand what the main fixed income indicators are and what each one is for. Therefore, if you still have doubts or don't even know where to start, you're in the right place!

To begin, we need to know what the main fixed income indicators are. So, let's go! They are: the Selic rate, the DI rate, the IPCA, the IGP-M, the TR, the IMA-Geral, and the IRF-M. And do you know which of these indicators is the most important? That's right, the Selic rate!

To make the lesson even more complete, I'll introduce you to the Tesouro Direto website! In it, you have all the information you need to analyze a Treasury Direct fund, and you can even simulate that fund directly on the website. It's incredible what we can do nowadays, isn't it? But of course, all these technological possibilities are useless if we don't know how to apply theory to practice.

But, anyway, how do we use these indicators in practice? In the lesson, I'll show you the step-by-step process, within an investment brokerage, to wisely choose the best fixed-income fund options based on the indicators studied. Furthermore, I'll show you the calculations you need to perform on the well-known HP12C calculator to make projections for a fixed-income investment.

If you haven't yet watched the previous lessons of our Financial Mathematics for Investors mini-course, take a look at our playlist, which contains all the mini-course lessons. I'll leave the playlist link in the description so you have no excuse not to study!
