1. What is training?
2. How does it help?
3. Body positions in autogenic training
4. Basic training elements
5. Adverse phenomena in autogenic training
6. Training plan

During training, by focusing on specific bodily sensations, we shift from the "fight or flight" state, in which our body operates during stress, to a "rest and relax" state. "Fight or flight" is a primal physiological human response to threats and challenges. It is associated with an increase in adrenaline levels, which triggers a series of changes in our body, preparing us to take "action." If we live a stressful lifestyle (and who doesn't?) or perceive other, often entirely subjective, dangers, we function in a constant state of tension, yet we don't perform any "action" that would allow us to burn off the adrenaline produced. We remain constantly "on alert," which is an extremely tiring state. The goal of the training is to develop the ability to shift into a "relax" state whenever possible.
