This session by bassist Tony Overwater and Japanese pianist Atzko Kohashi, who lives in the Netherlands, was recorded BIJ ANDREAS in Naarden. They play three pieces by John Coltrane, among others.
The last album by Atzko and Tony is called 'Cresent' and is named after the LP ‘Cresent’ by saxophonist John Coltrane recorded in 1964.
Atzko and Tony’s latest album, ‘Crescent’ was recorded on February 14, 2021. In the midst of a prolonged pandemic, it was an exceptional recording where two musicians entrusted their passion to their instruments. Atzko & Tony immediately bonded through a deep desire to realize the recording and put their best into the project. Coltrane's 'Crescent', on which the great saxophonist was accompanied by McCoy Tyner, Elvin Jones and Jimmy Garrison, is a bluesy album and therefore very suitable for this project, according to Overwater and Kohashi; “the blues has a healing effect.”
