Duygu Alkan sings a number of new songs from her EP 'My Garden's Perennials' in the Beelden aan Zee Museum (Scheveningen). It features traditional, classical lullabies from Anatolia sung in Greek, Sephardic, Kurdish and Armenian. Her passion in this music brew the idea of making this project by creating a new- modern experimental sound on Ancient lullabies from Asia minor and Mesopotamian repertoire with lots of improvisations.
Duygu Alkan came to the Netherlands from Izmir (Turkey) in 2017 to study at Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam. But before coming to Holland, she studied at the Department of Voice at the State Turkish Music Conservatory of the Ege University. There she majored in Classical Ottoman Music. In June 2019, she graduated with a Master of Arts degree from the Rotterdam Conservatory, Codarts.
‘Nanourisma’ is a traditional lullaby from Greece. The lyric says that; How many stars are on the sky, my pearl-one, they shine one by one... Come mother, come and love me... Come and swing the child in me..
