In this interview, Brent Allen from HP explains the difference between hyper-converged and converged systems. He highlights the reduced complexity of being able to grow compute, networking and storage in a modular fashion instead of needing to integrate with a SAN. At the same time, Allen lays out instances when using converged systems in conjunction with a SAN still makes sense. He then lays out examples that benefit from the simplicity of having software for configuring and controlling storage integrated into the hyper-converged systems.
