I really like this question. So there are a lot of professionals out there in multiple different industries. A professional might be somebody who has a certificate behind their name or a diploma behind their name, or they're known in the industry. They could be practicing as a professional in a particular type of industry.
An expert is somebody who really knows their stuff. It's somebody who perhaps has been in the industry, you may have heard before it takes 10,000 hours to become an expert at something.
An expert, in my opinion, is somebody who is a professional, there's somebody who's been in that game for such a long time, and who's really made almost like their mission to become an expert in that field.
So as you know anything that we learn, you've got entry level, you've got professional level and then you've got your expert level.
Expert is when you just go deep and you you go down all the ways, you drill down all the rabbit holes. You know everything beyond the base layer, so you've actually gone into an industry or into a particular field.
It's almost like your lifestyle. You live it, you breathe it and you know everything about it. That's what it takes to become an expert.
I say this with my experience in the coaching field, we could teach people all the things that there is to know. You can learn all the methodology around coaching, around NLP (neuro linguistic programming), you can literally read all the books.
However, in my opinion, you become an expert, the more people that you actually work with and the more clients you begin to serve because you're getting real life experience.
You begin to find patterns, you're working with real people, you're solving real problems. And to me that's my best interpretation of what's the difference between professional and expert. An expert is someone who has skin in the game, and who's got expertise of actually real life experience.
