The DUMERIL'S BOA! Facts and info (Animal Breakdown)
The Dumeril's boa is native to Madagascar (MADAHOOHA?) and lives in the drier forests of the southwestern part of the island country. The Dumeril's boa is not one of the biggest boas but is still a solid size averaging around 7-8ft in length! This boa is predominantly terrestrial, preferring to lay in the leaf litter on game trails and wait for a little rodent or lemur like King Julian to scuttle by before it strikes out with a wicked fast strike, coiling around and constricting its prey before swallowing it down whole :0
Dumeril's boas are also one of the most beautiful of the boa species with the beautiful gray and brown pattern that makes it a PERFECT stealth predator, allowing it to camouflage effortlessly on the forest floors and rocky plains of southwestern Madagascar. Dumeril's boas feed primarily on warm blooded prey like mammals and birds (and the occasional bat since those are mammals too :) )
Being the lesser known predator of lemurs compared to THE FOSSA! Dumeril's boas are always lurking in the leaf litter for they're prey to make the fatal mistake of crossing the strike zone!
