What do you do if you want to criticise American commercial cinema?
You can simply have your protagonist say a line criticising American cinema.
But if you have a criticism to make, not always the best strategy is to do it directly.
Often, to make it effective, you have to leave the work to the viewer, let them accept your premises step by step, without giving them a glimpse of the goal. And only when they have accepted all the steps... you do show them where they lead to. Today I want to analyze the cinema by Robert Altman and how he subverted cinema tropes attacking them directly with style. From the hero to ensamble staging.
