Invisible Joker Saves The Day On Gold Stakes: Checkered Deck! Balatro Run #30
VOD of me beating Gold Stakes difficulty with the Checkered Deck! The various stakes in Balatro add numerous challenging effects that drastically reduce your consistency in putting together a stacked deck and increase your scoring requirements. With the Checkered Deck, the benefit is starting only Hearts and Spades in your deck, 26 of each. This makes Flushes extremely consistent which makes the first few rounds very easy, allowing you to spend less money early. However, Jupiter is a weak planet card and scaling Flushes on its own is usually not enough to beat the final boss. In this run, we get an early Photograph and use Invisible Joker to duplicate it, hoping to find a Hanging Chad so we can get large amounts of X Mult. This combined with some initial Jupiter scaling is enough to get us over the line. Hit The Road also turns out to be useful for a change as we ended up with a lot of Jacks to discard for even more X Mult, and Luchador keeps us safe from bosses that debuff face cards.
