NONG Song:    • Gemini

Hey, it's been a while :).

Sooo I might as well explain a couple of things. Yes, I was dead set on doing the Farewell Golden in Celeste, but got busy after a little while and sunk out of it. I know 2.2 is coming out and I plan to experience it when I can, it's going to be awesome. Lastly, I should've uploaded this, like, two weeks ago, but I was busy and also got lazy.

Anyways, about this level, I can't believe it hasn't been rated yet. RadiationV2 is an amazing creator, and I was absolutely shocked when I saw them shadow-drop this banger. The level was made entirely with inspiration from the song, "Gemini," by Thank You Scientist, and it nails its decoration really well. It's nice and simple, but never feels incomplete in the slightest due to the masterful use of pulses and colors. The main gimmick of the decoration, however, is a day and night difference from what I just praised it for... no, literally. The level can be played with the theme being daytime or nighttime, and it isn't just some haphazard change to the colors. Many things about this level change depending on the theme you play. For example, the ship at the drop of the day mode happens without a whole lot of extra things happening, but in night mode, it actually begins to storm, and you can see lightning strike and rain falling. Another difference you can find is in the constellation section, where the day mode has the Earth in the part, but the night mode has the moon. Overall the decoration clearly has a lot of though put into it, no matter which mode you look at. It's really cool how Radiation made something so quaint, and yet gave each mode their own personalities and defining details. Really cool stuff.

I believe the gameplay makes this level shine as much as the decoration does. The entire level follows this really interesting gimmick of blocks that either appear or disappear depending on whether you're clicking or not. While this idea itself has been done before, it's the way that it's executed here that makes it so enthralling. It's used throughout the entire level, and in really creative and intuitive ways that make the level genuinely difficult. The mechanic adds a surprising amount of intensity to parts that normally would just be a simple click, and it DEFINITELY adds to the song well. There's not a single solitary moment in the level, and it knows when it wants to be an energetic cruise or a bombastic spectacle. Because of this gameplay idea, it's hard to get comfortable with the gameplay at first, but with enough practice, it's some really flowy and nice gameplay.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend you play this level. Despite the fact that it's a NONG, I also believe it should certainly get rated. It's around hard demon difficulty to me, so with enough practice, it's approachable at its difficulty. Go check it out!
