Prof. Philip Schauer was excited to attend this year's 13th Edition of the Emirates Diabetes & Endocrine Congress and had the opportunity to speak in 2 sessions with the intent to update the audience of Endocrinologists on the Role of Metabolic Surgery & Bariatric Surgery to treat Obesity & Diabetes and related conditions.
He spoke about some of the recent outcomes in Metabolic Surgery, how it can actually cause remission of Diabetes and how it can reduce Cardiovascular mobility and mortality. He was also delighted to engage in an Obesity Debate with Prof. Rachel Batterham and discussed the use of new medications in combination with metabolic surgery. He mentions that this is a new exciting era where now doctors can combine the benefits of medicine and surgery to achieve outstanding results in patients who are really struggling with obesity and diabetes.
Prof. Philip remarks that the sessions this year were really fantastic and it was a wonderful opportunity for him to present in front of more than 4000+ endocrinologists from across the world to share his knowledge and learned a lot from endocrinologists here in Dubai as well as the surrounding regions for a better understanding in some of the challenges they face on an everyday basis in the fight against obesity and diabetes.
