Retrofitting Unsupported Equipment - Conveyor Addition with Robotic Loading
The Matrix Design team retrofitted an existing operation by adding an additional conveyor segment diverting off of an existing line - removing the bottleneck in the operation. Pairing this system with a robotic loader lead to greatly increased efficiency when compared to manual loading.
The system optimized the machine tool cycle time while minimizing operator intervention. Matrix Design was able to provide a complete solution for the line as the original manufacturer no longer supported the existing conveyor.
An RFID reader was added to divert pallets from the main line into this new spur, and with additional logic added to the interface, jams at the intersection were prevented from happening.
The robotic automation that tends the ROBODRILL loads and unloads the part. After the drilling operation on the part is performed, it then proceeds to return it to the conveyance system for further processing down the line.
