हेमंत सोरेन झारखंड के 14वें मुख्यमंत्री बन गये हैं. पिछले 11 वर्षों में हेमंत सोरेन ने चौथी बार सीएम पद की शपथ ली है. अपने दूसरे कार्यकाल में हेमंत सोरेन 5 जनवरी 2020 से 31 जनवरी 2024 तक 4 साल प्रदेश के सीएम रहे. हेमंत सोरेन का तीसरा कार्यकाल इसी सरकार में 4 जुलाई 2024 से 24 नवंबर 2024 तक रहा. हेमंत सोरेन 2020 में सरकार बनाने तक एक बड़े राजनीतिक परिवार के शाहजादे ही कहे जाते रहे. उनपर परिवारवाद का आरोप लगता रहा. विरोधी से लेकर सियासी विश्लेषक तक हेमंत सोरेन पर यह आरोप लगाते रहे कि उनके पास जो भी है वह दिशोम गुरु शिबू सोरेन का बेटा होने की वजह से है. इतना ही नहीं! बीजेपी के कई नेताओं ने यह भी कहा कि यदि दुर्गा सोरेन जीवित होते तो हेमंत सोरेन कभी झारखंड में सियासत के सिरमौर नहीं बन पाते. हां! ये काफी हद तक सही भी है कि 2005 में पहला चुनाव गंवाने के बाद हेमंत सोरेन का सियासत से मोहभंग हो चुका था. 2009 में बड़े भाई दुर्गा सोरेन के आकस्मिक निधन के बाद ही हेमंत सोरेन को एक्सीडेंटली दोबारा सियासत में आना पड़ा. हालांकि, पिछले 5 साल में कई ऐसे मौके आये जबकि हेमंत सोरेन ने खुद को एक मंझा हुआ राजनेता साबित किया. यह कहना अतिश्योक्ति नहीं होगी कि आज हेमंत सोरेन झारखंड में निर्विवाद रूप से सबसे बड़े आदिवासी नेता हैं.

Hemant Soren took over as CM in January 2020. In February 2020, the Covid pandemic entered the whole of India. There was turmoil in the whole country from infection to lockdown. Hemant Soren repeatedly reiterates that due to the Covid pandemic, he could not take major policy decisions from the time of swearing-in till the next two and a half years.
