Homestead is a short documentary film I created in my senior year at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa through ACM 405 Documentary Production. It is the result of me reaching out to friends asking about potential leads for documentary subjects for our final assessment and approaching the genre from a more cinematic and unconventional approach which I hadn't considered prior to taking the course. Thanks to the support of my family, friends, the Phengsy family, as well as my mentor and former Professor, Lisette Flanary, this film was able to be made and reach a wide range of audiences.
And now that it has run it's small, yet amazing festival circuit, I am so pleased to announce it's official public release on my channel on Thanksgiving! I would like to think of this film as a good reminder to cherish the moments you have with your grandparents and be thankful for all the love that they give. So before it is released, please enjoy this short behind the scenes featurette I put together!
