Drone vision of the SH35 Bailey bridge across the Hikuwai River
Four months to the day since Cyclone Gabrielle lashed the upper North Island, a temporary Bailey bridge across the Hikuwai River on SH35 has been completed.
It is a key milestone in the recovery programme - completion of this 85-metre-long bridge means all state highways in Hawke’s Bay and Tairāwhiti have now reopened following the widespread damage caused by the cyclone.
