Pressure Washer Start up Procedure
Pressure washer not starting? Feel like you’re missing an important step? We’ve got you covered as we go through each step in detail, from connecting the water to pulling the recoil and everything in between. We also go over some general maintenance tips that will allow you to maximize the performance and lifespan of your pressure washer.
The following is a written list of each step. Each of these will need to be completed every time you want to use your pressure washer:
1. Connect the garden hose to the pressure washer pump (inlet).
2. Connect the high-pressure hose to the gun (outlet).
3. Attach the desired quick-connect spray nozzle to the end of the gun via the quick-connect coupler. Squeeze the trigger to ensure water is flowing.
4. Check the fuel level and fill with unleaded, low ethanol fuel if necessary. The use of fuel stabilizer is always recommended to prevent gummy build-up and corrosion.
5. Remove the dipstick from the engine and wipe it off using a towel. Insert the stick once more and remove it, wiping it on a piece of white paper towel. This will allow you to gauge the level and quality of your oil. If low or in poor condition, you will need to change it. If unsure of how to do this, consult our support section on our website.
6. Turn the On/Off Switch to the “On” position.
7. Ensure the throttle is fully engaged. It should never be lower than this, as all of our washers are tested and operated at this level. Lowering the throttle puts extra stress on the engine, which can reduce the lifespan and performance.
8. Switch the fuel valve on to allow the flow of gas to the engine and engage the choke lever. (Note: The throttle, choke, and fuel valve are all located by the air filter on your pressure washer).
9. Turn your water supply on if this hasn't been done yet.
10. Once all of this is done, pull the recoil starter briskly until the engine starts to run. This should typically take only one or two pulls.
11. With the pressure washer running, pull the trigger on the spray gun to release any built-up pressure. This will help extend the life and performance quality of your pump.
