Pressure Washer Start Up Procedure with a Honda GC Series Engine
This video gives an overview of the start-up process for pressure washers powered by a Honda GC engine.
Before starting the unit, there are a few steps you'll need to complete. First and foremost, you’ll want to check the oil level of the engine.
To check the oil level, remove the dipstick from unit, wipe it off with a rag, and re-insert it into the unit. If the level of the oil is about halfway up the dipstick, then engine should be ready for operation.
Next, you will need to attach your garden hose and high-pressure hose. First, thread the garden hose into the inlet of the pump. This is the bottom port with a garden hose adapter (GHA) on the end. Once this is done, attach the high-pressure hose to the outlet (top port) of the pump by threading it on until tight.
Once the hoses have been connected, attach your spray gun to the other end of the high-pressure hose. This can be done via hand-tightening or a quick-connect coupler depending on your hose and spray gun.
With the gun and hoses connected, it is now time to turn on the water and pull the trigger of the spray gun. Hold the trigger down until you see a constant, consistent flow of water. Once this has been achieved, attach your desired quick-connect nozzle to the end of the spray gun.
Now that the water is flowing and the spray gun is ready for use, it is time to look at the engine. First, you’ll need to check the fuel level. If it’s running low, refuel using low-ethanol gasoline and thread the cap back on to the unit.
For all GC units, the ON/OFF switch is built into the throttle lever. Switch the throttle to the “ON” position by pushing it all the way up. You will also want to ensure that you engage the choke for cold-starting.
Once all of these steps have been completed, hold the trigger of the gun down, brace the unit with your foot, and pull the recoil cord until the unit starts. Once started, disengage the choke and engine will run smoothly. Your pressure washer is now ready to get to work!
