“The economy is us: demystifying economics” was the opening keynote of the virtual conference “A Well-Being Economy for Alberta: Healthy People, Healthy Planet,” hosted by Parkland Institute on June 19–20, 2023.
Jim Stanford, the keynote speaker, is the Economist and Director of the Centre for Future Work, and is one of Canada’s best-known economic commentators. Professor Lindsay McLaren (University of Calgary) delivered the opening remarks and Bob Ascah (ABpolecon.ca and Parkland Institute) was the moderator.
The session also had three respondents/panelists: Marliss Taylor (Streetworks, Edmonton), Crystal Lameman (Beaver Lake Cree Nation), and Mark Anielski (wellbeing economist, Alberta).
A well-being economy re-imagines the purpose of our economy and society to place quality of life for everyone and the sustainability of our planet at the centre.
