“Financing and democratizing well-being policy in Alberta,” with Thomas Marois, was the theme of the second session of the virtual conference “A Well-Being Economy for Alberta: Healthy People, Healthy Planet,” hosted by Parkland Institute on June 19–20, 2023.
Thomas Marois is a leading scholar of public banks and author of the book “Public Banks: Decarbonisation, Definancialisation, and Democratisation” (Cambridge University Press). He was introduced by moderator Gwendolyn Blue (University of Calgary).
The session also had three respondents/panelists: Bob Ascah (ABpolecon.ca and Parkland Institute), Niall Harney (Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, Manitoba), and Jared Blustein (Arusha Centre Society, Calgary).
A well-being economy re-imagines the purpose of our economy and society to place quality of life for everyone and the sustainability of our planet at the centre.
