MakeBox Embroidery How Guide: How to create a French Knot
The French Knot
These decorative knots sit on the surface of the embroidery to create a pretty finish or fine details, such as eyes.
1. Tie a knot at the base of the thread and come up from under the work where you want to place the stitch.
2. With the needle facing downwards wrap the thread around it four times, making sure this is very tight.
3. Bring the top of the thread around and over the tip of the needle.
4. Push the tip of the needle back into the work, close to but not in the same hole as you came up.
5. Pull the needle through to the back and pull tight to secure a knot. The French knots in this project use all the threads and so you may need to gently give the needle a wiggle to pull through.
