Makebox Embroidery Guide: How to create a Running Stitch
Running stitch
This is the simplest stitch to join two pieces of fabric together and used for hemming a project. You can use this for hand stitching the stocking together if you don't have a sewing machine.
1.Thread the needle with the sewing thread.
2.Pull the thread back through so it is doubled up.
3.Cut so it is as long as your fingertips to elbow and tie a double or triple knot in the end.
4. To create the stitch neatly go up and down through the layers of fabric to join. Once you get to the end of a row knot the thread securely from behind at the back of the work.
