Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together.

Koine Greek is a form of Greek used during the Hellenistic period, Roman Empire, and early Byzantine Empire. It developed after Alexander the Great's conquests in the 4th century BC and became the common language across much of the Mediterranean and Middle East. Primarily based on Attic and Ionic Greek, it incorporated elements from other dialects due to dialect levelling.

COPTIC is a continuum of closely related dialects and the native language of Egypt, representing the most recent developments of the Egyptian language and historically spoken by all Egyptians. Bohairic is the dialect of the Nile Delta, gained prominence in the 9th century and is used as the liturgical language of the Coptic churches today.

Greek influenced the Coptic language primarily through its alphabet, as Coptic adopted the Greek script with additional letters from Demotic to represent sounds unique to Egyptian. Many Greek loanwords entered Coptic, especially in religious, administrative, and cultural contexts. Greek also influenced some grammatical structures and orthographic conventions. The bilingual nature of Egyptian society during the Hellenistic and Roman periods further facilitated Greek's impact on Coptic. Despite these influences, Coptic retained its core identity as the final stage of the Egyptian language.
