“Venice only with you” is Dark Drama by filmmaker Philip Peißen, based on the book by author Winfried Thamm. The independent #ShortFilm shows a family father whose love for his daughter goes beyond his his sense of justice.

STORYLINE
The drama descends into the thoughts of a successful and controlled man who feels more than just paternal affection for his daughter. He still has these feelings under control, but his primal fear not being able to resist this growing desire puts his identity at risk.

RECEPTION
“Venice only with you” is not just a film about fatherly love or even a sad short movie, but rather asks the question of deterministic patterns of behavior and how a person should deal with it when he discovers that a #PathologicalLove spreads. This also includes the question of whether a guilty act can be judged before it is done.
In the end the #DarkDrama does not want to give the viewer a packaged morality, but invites to the discussion whether the successful public prosecutor Hermann has made the right decision, played by the Düsseldorf based actor Vittorio Alfieri known among other things from the ZDF crime series “Wilsberg”.
The Essen based composer Fabian Beeren supplements with his orchestral music and gives the German short film a sensitive suspense through its sound design.
