Homemade Extension Cords - SPT - For Christmas Light Display DIY
If you're looking for custom length extension cords where you won't be running a lot of amperage through them, this is an easy way to make them.
I'm using these type cords on (most of) my Christmas Light Display this year. I will run at most 4 or 5 LED light sets through each cord which will only draw one amp at most. Most cords will only have one set attached to it, will draw at most 0.25 amps & no longer than 30ft. So there is going to be no issues with burned up lights or cords. There are a few display parts that draw a bit more current, so a typical extension cord will be used on them.
Each light set/display has been assigned a number on my design sheet. Each light set will be attached to the corresponding cord and outlet in the control box. This will make it much easier & less time consuming to set up and take down.
