Action Shotgun Match NTSA 08.31.24
First match to run all new parts in my warranty replacement VR80.
Aftermarket parts currently in this shotgun:
T&N trigger
Taccom buffer & flatwire recoil spring
Commercial buffer tube.
Everything else is factory new.
A few things I’ve notice different on this gun as compared to my 2018 shotgun:
Rear buffer plate is different
Bolt carrier has slimmer rails.
Gas ports are larger at 0.12”
Magwell was a few hundredths tighter (I filed it out till mags dropped easily)
The only major issue I had at this match was slugs. I ran inexpensive Fiocchi 1oz 1300fps. They would not cycle. Gonna order a case of Fed Truball & try again.
For bird I ran Federal Action Shotgun & Win AA 1250. The 1250 felt a little “hot” for these gas ports. Next match I'm going down to AA 1145 fps.
I still don't trust this gun as much as my original, so a go a little slower with it and hesitate on some shots (anticipating a malfunction).
