Why am I still in Fire Protection?

A little over 20 years ago, I graduated college and jumped right into fire protection, mostly on the manufacturing side.

I was much more interested in understanding materials than studying codes.

Why am I still in fire protection all these years later?

It comes down to saving lives and creating a safer environment.

When you know your work has a direct impact on keeping people safe and protecting buildings, there's a sense of fulfillment that’s hard to match.

Over the years, I’ve learned a lot through trade shows and association meetings, but those events are usually brief, if you can even make it.

When we started Inspect Point (and then the Fire Protection Podcast), our focus has been on consistently learning as much as we can from the ground up, from other industry leaders, and then being a voice of thought leadership ourselves.

The response has been incredible.

Even with posting consistently on LinkedIn this past year – I’ve been floored by the engagement and our community coming together.

It’s amazing to see professionals (some familiar, some new) connecting almost instantly around these topics.

Unlike the occasional trade show, social platforms and media like podcasts allow for ongoing, meaningful interaction that everyone can participate in, all the time.

How long have you been in the industry and why do you stay?
