Hi there!
Today, I wanted to show you a project that's been in the works for a while. I got the remnants of this Christmas Pyramid during a short vacation in 2020. There wasn't a lot of things open, obviously, but there were open air flea markets, so that's where we headed.
And a few euro later I tied a bag to my suitcase for the way home, containing this rather ugly thing :D
It's a handmade item and someone once invested time and care in it, so I wanted to make it look nice again. So here we are, just a tiny bit of time later, having finished this project.
Due to the chaos of my life lately, some of the footage has gone missing, but I think it still makes for a cozy little watch. To me, finishing this project means a lot, because I've had to abandon it for such a long time. I thought I'd never get to see it done – for a while I thought I'd have to quit YouTube alltogether.
Thankfully, I'm stubborn, and pulled through finally :D
As always with flipping items, the greatest challenge is not being able to take it apart completely. Some parts would become too damaged, so it's often working around what's already there, and then adding your own ideas to it.
The first step with many older builds I pick up is removing the old varnish. It often looks very orange, much more than it seems on camera. I do like the simple, older silhouettes of this decor, but not the color lol.
After that, it was time to fix the issues – remove the broken fence and replace it with a more traditional version, stabilize the turning mechanism on the platform so it really works.
The pyramid topper is store bought, as are the two adult deer. The smaller one was salvaged from another flip project. I made the hay rack from coffee stirrers and cut all the blades myself based on an online template, jumping at the opportunity to binge watch something while doing so :D
I hope this project got you into the Christmas mood. Truthfully, in my life it's lacking currently, but sometimes that's how it goes. I still had fun making this and I hope you had fun watching.
See you very soon for another video :D
