SanDisk USB flash drive data recovery - method: transplant controller + NAND to donor PCB
Repair of a flash drive almost by definition results in better recovery result than chip-off. So whenever possible the sick or dead flash drive is repaired. If a PCB is so damaged that repair is impossible a matching donor board is an option. In this video we see controller + NAND chip being transplanted to donor board.
