One of Cornwall's leading musical exports, Alastair started his musical career at the age of six, progressing to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where he studied with Richard McMahon. He graduated from there in July 1998 with two of the College's highest awards; the Simon Clarkson Memorial Award for Best All-Round Musician and the Gemma Sharp Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution to the College. In demand as a Musical Director as well as pianist, organist and baritone, he has directed shows including Scrooge, Company, Mack & Mabel, Carousel, 42nd Street, Camelot, Pinocchio, Assassins and Roy Hudd's Aladdin and Cinderella at the Hall For Cornwall, Truro.
Alastair has performed in close on 700 concerts across the Country and has worked with such people as Ben Luxon, Alan Opie, Rebecca Evans, Carlo Rizzi, Phillip Martin, Martino Tirimo, Julian Jacobson, Sergei Oszidchuk, Anthony Negus, Bryan Davies, Stuart Burrows and Robert Tear to name a few. Notable appearances have included performing Grieg's Piano Concerto in Cardiff; at the Goldsmiths Hall in London in the presence of H.RH. Duke of Kent and at the Chopin Academy of Music, Poland. In addition his music has taken him to France, Spain, Corsica, Portugal, Italy, Menorca, Gibraltar and Greece.
He is soon to be off on tour to Australia, performing in venues such as Adelaide Town Hall, the Kernewek Lowender at Waleroo and Sydney Opera House. This CD is the first in a series of recordings which will feature not only Alastair the Pianist but also Alastair the Organist and Baritone.
