Pulsar Star // Generative Eurorack Minimal Ambient Music
In the world of eurorack minimal ambient music there some distinct schools of technique. Pure generative ambient music is very popular and often very beautiful. I enjoy listening to it but I don't enjoy making it so much. My preferred technique is to create playable generative systems that I can improvise on, and combine them with predetermined sequences on the modular synth and in Ableton Live and the Digitakt. I find the combination often leads to unexpected results that, at least for me, are more musically interesting and compelling.
This jam uses generative techniques to drive Metropolix which in turn is driving the Behringer 2600 and the Clouds module in the Poly Effects Hector. The Metropolix tracks are running at different speeds, divisions and pitch offsets. The pitches of both tracks are combined in Triplatt and sent to the pitch input of Clouds.
Triggers from Pams are firing Maths which is driving the stage offset of Metropolix track one. This is a favourite technique of mine that results in a kind of contained generative randomness.
