This is another video in the General Maths Units 1 and 2 course. This one looks at how we can use summary statistics to summarise data. I take a look the how to find the mean (and what that actually means). We look at finding the median for both odd and even numbers of data items. The range follows with a discussion about how this isn't a great measure of anything. I look at a comparison between the median and the mean and which is the best to use before heading into the excitement which is the Interquartile range. Finally I look at what the standard deviation is and how we find it using pencil and paper and CAS. There are a number of worked examples and all the theory is explained in my own unique style!
