In this session, relational suffering is met with kindness and equanimity. Specifically, we examine the pain of connection (empathy fatigue) and the pain of relational disconnection.
Chris also discusses the MSC equanimity phrases:
"Everyone is on their own life's journey. I am not the cause of this person's suffering, nor is it in my power to take it away, even though I wish I could. Moments like this are difficult to bear, yet I may still try to help if I can."
We need equanimity in order to create the space for compassion.
