Hey everyone its Paul Pyro and today I will be showing you
my homemade multi-tool hammer, or multi hammer and how I
built it from scratch! So stay tuned!
Alright so this multi-hammer is made from 100% aircraft grade
aluminum metal and designed and manufactured by me.The whole tool
is 6 inches long, by 2.5 inches wide, and a 1/4 inch thick. It is very
solid yet still portable to carry with you at all times.
Then I uploaded the file to the CNC machine and started the process with
a face cut. A face cut in machinist terms is simply cutting the outer surface
ensuring that you have a level surface to work on. This is key since many
stock bars arrive deformed or bent during shipping.
After that finished, I continued with an engraving tool attachment to cut
shallow cuts for the ruler grid lines and the words.
Then it was time for the 1/8th inch flat endmill to contour or cutout
the main designs and finally the outer shape.
Next I used rough and fine grit sandpaper to smoothen out the edges.
Next came the fun part of turning a piece of aluminum rod on a metal lathe
and creating the hammer head which will soon be attached to make my glorious
multi-hammer.
I do not know what it is but cutting aluminum on a high speed lathe is just so
amazing. The rough material instantly turns into clean polished metal.
Now I am going to take a break from talking to let you guys enjoy the rest of the machining.
Now I would like to apologise for some shaky footage, however a lot of the machining was done
one handed and a camera in the other.
